Main St. Corridor Proposal
The Steet Scape plans started with the engineer doing an analysis of the borough and history to understand the evolution of the borough and Main Street corridor. The main project study area is from the DNL trailhead at the south of the borough to the DNL trailhead north of the borough with a side connection along Susquehanna Street and up to the library. The study covers about four blocks and looks at the architecture. The Main Street and 940 intersection is a big challenge. Some key elements of the project were identified as travel lanes, on-street parking, pedestrian sidewalks, multi-use trails, and bike lanes. This is just an introduction to the concepts as the engineers begin to formulate a plan. The Blueprint Communities Team and Greater White Haven Chamber of Commerce have partnered with White Haven Borough to assist with the Street Scape plans to enhance the safety and welcoming feel of Main St.
Blueprint Communities® is a revitalization initiative by FHLBank Pittsburgh aimed at improving communities and neighborhoods in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Launched in 2005, the program helps local teams develop and implement revitalization plans with ongoing support over a 10-year period. This support includes prioritizing initiatives, connecting with experts, creating action plans, and securing resources for implementation. Plans are developed based on community input to address specific local needs, and past initiatives have focused on increasing tourism, developing affordable housing, supporting local businesses, and redeveloping historic buildings.
